COLOQUIO SARA GÓMEZ: IMAGEN MÚLTIPLE: El audiovisual cubano desde una perspectiva de género.
El Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) lo invita a participar en el coloquio SARA GÓMEZ: IMAGEN MÚLTIPLE. El audiovisual cubano desde una perspectiva de género que tendrá lugar en la sala del Centro Cultural Cinematográfico ICAIC, entre los días 1 y 3 de noviembre de 2007.
En 1974, Sara Gómez fundaba el mito de la primera mujer cineasta y negra en el cine cubano producido por el ICAIC, luego de su prematura muerte antes de concluir su opera prima De cierta manera, de la cual justamente este año celebramos el treinta aniversario de su estreno en Cuba.
La obra de Sara, cuya estética y sentido ético están respaldados por una filmografía documental desarrollada durante la década del 60, deviene aproximación sociológica a la realidad desde el cine.
En ella se combinan su mirada como mujer negra a temas como la marginalidad, la identidad nacional y el proyecto social de la Revolución, que conforman esa imagen múltiple que nos sirve como soporte para intervenir críticamente el audiovisual cubano desde una perspectiva de género; pues se hace imprescindible expandir los márgenes interpretativos y propiciar un diálogo intercultural e interdisciplinario del universo audiovisual cubano más allá de lecturas propiamente cinematográficas o historiográficas.
Las temáticas propuestas son:
-Sara Gómez: mitos y realidades.
-De cierta manera: 30 años después.
-Cine de, por, para y sobre mujeres en Cuba.
-Realizadoras cubanas ante la encrucijada del feminismo.
-Masculinidades y feminidades en representación.
-Revolución, machismo, hombre nuevo en el audiovisual cubano.
-Raza, marginalidad e identidad en el audiovisual cubano.
Alternando con los debates, lectura de ponencias y conferencias magistrales, se proyectarán películas de la filmografía de Sara Gómez y otras que sean referencia de estas temáticas y que amplíen el universo audiovisual de las personas convocadas.
Paralelamente se inaugurará una exposición fotográfica homenaje a Sara Gómez, que incluirá materiales no exhibidos con anterioridad.
Las personas interesadas en participar deben enviar sus ponencias al Comité Organizador a través de la dirección de correo electrónico imagenmultiple@yahoo.es hasta el 15 de septiembre de 2007. Se solicita respetar el siguiente formato:
- 10 cuartillas promedio, tamaño carta, letra Times New Roman, a dos espacios y 60 golpes de máquina, en documento de Word.

SARA GÓMEZ: MULTIPLE IMAGE
Cuban audiovisual materials from a genre’s perspective.
The University of Arts (ISA) invite you to participate in the colloquium SARA GÓMEZ: MULTIPLE IMAGE. Cuban audiovisual materials from a genre’s perspective, that will be held in Cinematographic Cultural Center ICAIC from November 1-3, 2007.
In 1974 Sara Gómez founded the myth of the first black woman moviemaker in Cuban cinema produced by ICAIC, after her premature death before finishing her first work, De cierta manera, of which we are precisely celebrating this year the 30th anniversary of its premiere in Cuba.
Sara’s work, which aesthetics and ethical sense are supported by a documentary filmography developed during the 1960’s, becomes a sociological rapprochement to reality seen from the film.
In her work there is a combination of her way of dealing, as a black woman, with topics such as marginality, national identity and the social project of the Revolution, which shape that multiple image that constitutes our support for approaching us critically to Cuban audiovisual production, from a genre’s perspectives that can contribute to expand the interpretative limits and to favor an intercultural and an interdisciplinary dialogue of the Cuban audiovisual universe beyond cinematographic or historiographies lectures.
The suggested topics are:
- Sara Gómez: myth and reality.
- De cierta manera: 30 years later.
- Women’s films in Cuba.
- Cuban women video makers face to feminism’s debate.
- Revolutions, machismo, new man in Cuban audiovisual.
- Feminine and masculine in representation.
- Race, marginality and identity in Cuban audiovisual.
Alternating with the debates and the presentation of works and lectures, films belonging to Sara Gómez’ filmography will be played, as well as others with similar topics that can widen the audiovisual universe of the women gathered in the meeting.
Parallel with this event, a photographic exhibition will be opened, as a tribute to Sara Gómez. It will include pictures that have not been exhibited in public.
